The solution is intended for the treatment and prevention of flea infestation on large breed dogs weighing 20.1 - 40 kg.
Stronghold can also be used to treat intestinal roundworms, ear mites, lice and sarcoptic mange. Taken monthly, it can also be used to prevent heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria imitis.

Pharmacological properties
The active substance of the drug is selamectin - semi-synthetic ivermectin. The mechanism of action is related to the change in the activity of chlorine channels of synaptic membranes in the nervous and muscular systems of many ectoparasites. By binding to specific receptors, it increases the permeability of synaptic membranes to chlorine ions, which leads to blocking of the electrical activity of nerve and muscle cells of the parasite and, as a result, their paralysis and death. In mammals, such receptors are located only in the central nervous system. Because selamectin does not cross the blood-brain barrier, it has a high level of safety and is safe for dogs and cats at recommended doses.
Selamectin has a wide range of systemic nematode, insecticidal and acaricidal action, has larvocidal and ovicidal properties.
The drug is quickly and completely absorbed into the blood from the site of application. The therapeutic concentration of selamexin in the blood is maintained for a long time, which ensures the destruction of parasites and protection against reinvasion for a month.

After using the drug, adult fleas die. To prevent infestation, the drug should be used once a month during the flea season. Treatment of pregnant and lactating animals prevents flea infestation in kittens and puppies up to 7 weeks.
For use as a component of flea allergic dermatitis therapy, the drug is used at monthly intervals.
The drug is intended for external skin use only. Do not apply the product to wet skin. Animals should not be washed for 2 hours after application (until completely dry).
