Bioavailability of Sarolaner after oral administration reaches 85%.
Sarolaner spreads through the tissues of the animal body and is excreted from the tissues due to half-life in the blood plasma.
The main route of excretion of sarolaner is through bile and faeces.
Sarolaner belongs to the group of isoxazolines, has acaricidal and insecticidal activity. Its action causes damage to the nervous system of ectoparasites and their death. Such action is characteristic only for invertebrates and is safe for mammals.
Sarolaner is active against adult fleas (Ctenocephalides canis, C. felis), some species of ticks (Dermacemtor reticulatus, Ixodes hehagonus, I. Ricinus, Rhipiecephalus sanguineus and Sacroptes scabiei). Laboratory studies have shown activity of Sarolaner against tick species such as Dermacentor variabilis, Ixodes scapularis, Amblyomma americanum, as well as Demodex canis and Otodectes cynotis.
After using the drug Sarolaner, the activity against fleas starts after 8 hours, against ticks (Ixodes ricinus) after 12 hours and continues for 35 days and nights after use.
The drug Simparica* chewable tablets for dogs is effective for 35 days and nights against all types of fleas that parasitize dogs, and causes the death of fleas before they begin to lay eggs, which prevents the contamination of animal housing with eggs that are infested with fleas.
Fleas and ticks must attach to the dog's skin and ingest the active ingredient of the drug. The drug causes the death of fleas that parasitize the animal after 8 hours, ticks - after 12 hours.
Treatment of animals with the drug is due to the reduction of the risk of diseases transmitted by ticks (canine babesiosis, anaplasmosis, borreliosis) within 5 weeks.
